The Artist Project

Amanda, My mother in law just finished another painting for Mimi's room. It is a beautiful representation of Mila...her spirit and her girly nature. It is very special and is a perfect addition to her room.

I was reminded that The Artist Project is coming up, starting February 20th until the 23rd at the Exhibition Place. I glanced at some of the artists previews and here are some faves:

Art in the family

Amanda, My mother in law paints and she offered to paint us something for our powder room. I knew I wanted something abstract but that was new to TK. Luckily, I had introduced pinterest to her several months ago (and naturally she is obsessed.) So with a bit of pin inspiration my mother in law took on the challenge. And I'm thrilled! She worked outside her comfort zone and created a beautiful piece that works perfectly in our home.

Here it is:

I love the mix of colours and the inconsistency of the zig zag.

Matt Ross

Kate, I always knew my cousin was talented but his new pieces blew me away.  Take a look at some of his work.

He is currently at my house working on a new 4x4 canvas for me.  I am so pumped!  Here's a picture of Matt and Peter painting together.

I'm feeling pretty lucky to get a piece of his work before he makes it big.  He is about to have a few of his pieces shown at an art show at the Lincoln center in New York.  You can find his work on funkeithtv.com

I'll leave you with this photo that I love.  This is one of my favourites from a while ago.

Todd Monk

Amanda,

With every house that we've moved into, I've said that it didn't feel like home until I displayed our pictures. It's kind of like putting a mark on your home so that anyone coming in knows who it belongs to.
Now that we have a wall of photos and our house feels like home, I've moved on to art. A different kind of mark on your home... A reflection of your style and something deeper.
My sister just bought a painting from an artist called Todd Monk. He's fresh and modern and there are a couple of his pieces that I love.

Look at that attitude:

Our house needs art and I'm on the hunt. Who was that artist you told me about a while ago?
